In April, Captain Jenny Bell-Thomson retired from the Sheriff's Office. She had been with the Monroe County Sheriff's Office since June of 1979, when she took a position in the upper Keys as a dispatcher. She worked her way up the ranks, becoming a deputy in 1981; a sergeant in 1986; a lieutenant in 1989 and, finally, a captain in 1992.
