Tanzi flown to State Prison after death sentencing

Michael Tanzi was sentenced to death today in Circuit Court for the killing of Miami resident Janet Acosta in April of 2000. Just minutes after his sentencing, Tanzi was whisked off to the Key West International Airport with a heavily armed escort comprised of the Sheriff's Office Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team and members of the Sheriff's Corrections Emergency Response Team (CERT), as well as Sheriff's Transportation deputies. At 10:20 a.m., a Sheriff's Office aircraft departed with Tanzi on board, en route to the State prison at Starke, Florida.
