The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Enforcement Unit reviews accident statistics and targets those areas that show a substantially high rate of traffic crashes. We actively solicit your complaints, input, and ideas on problem areas that present a safety threat to motorists, cyclists or pedestrians. Your concerns are very important to us and will be investigated. You can send a traffic target for consideration, along with your reasons for wanting it to be targeted, to Traffic Enforcement Sgt. Glenn Test at gtest@keysso.net.
The following are Selective Traffic Enforcement Targeted areas scheduled for intense enforcement. Keep in mind that Traffic Enforcement Deputies will be in these areas using Laser, Radar and Video Cameras at least once for a substantial period of time and will be showing Zero Tolerance to violators.
The Traffic Enforcement Unit will also be highlighting one particular traffic related law each month, called "Violation of the Month".
Please contact Sergeant Glenn Test, Supervisor of the Traffic Enforcement Unit at 289-2410 if you have any traffic concerns or wish to report any areas that require additional Traffic Enforcement attention. If you have a traffic concern in the City of Key West please contact Sgt. Scott Smith at the Key West Police Department at 809-1000. Remember, speed kills! Slow down and drive safely, don’t you become a highway statistic.

Violation of the Month is the Move Over Law: Florida
law states that while approaching and passing an Emergency vehicle stopped
along side the road, with its emergency lights activated, you must move out
of the lane adjacent to the emergency vehicle. If this is not possible, such
as on our two lane roadways, you must decrease your speed to 20 mph below
the posted speed limit while approaching and passing the emergency vehicle.
